How to Use This Map
A quick guide for first-timers — no experience needed
🏔
Surface Topo Default
This is your trail map. The lines you see are contour lines — each one marks a change in elevation. Lines close together mean steep terrain, lines far apart mean flat ground. Use this when you are hiking, foraging, or hunting and need to read the land around you.
🌊
Ocean / Bathymetric Layer On Water
Switch to this when you are on the water. Instead of hills and valleys it shows you the bottom of the ocean, bay, or lake. The contours work the same way — closer together means a steep drop, farther apart means a gradual slope. Use this to find underwater structure, drop-offs, and good spots to anchor.
📍
GPS Tracking
Tap the Track My Location button to turn on your location. A pulsing beacon will show exactly where you are on the map in real time. This is especially useful when you are deep in the woods or offshore and need to know your position at a glance. Works on mobile — just allow location access when prompted.
💾
Offline Caching
Before you head out, zoom into the area you plan to be in and tap the Save for Offline button. The map tiles for that area will be saved to your device. When you are out of cell range or have no signal the map will still load and show your location. Always save your area before you leave the house.
📏
Depth Labels
When you are on the Ocean layer you will see numbers on the map — those are depth readings. They show how deep the water is at that point in both feet and meters. Use these to find the edge of a drop-off, scout a good anchor spot, or understand the underwater terrain before you get there.
