Key Identification Features
- Cap 2-5 cm with distinctive wavy/undulating margin at maturity. Caramel-brown fading to pale off-white when dry. Strong blue staining on bruising — key identifier. Grows in wood-chip mulch in urban/suburban areas. Very high psilocybin content — among most potent Psilocybe. Dark purple-brown spore print.
Symptoms & Toxicity
Onset 30 min-1 hr: intense visual hallucinations, altered perception, anxiety. More potent than P. semilanceata. Can cause hyperthermia at high doses. Confusion with Galerina marginata (same habitat, similar appearance) is a clinical emergency — check for blue bruising.
