Key Identification Features
- Yellow to orange-brown cap (4–12 cm) with a dry cottony-wooly surface, yellow pores that slowly bruise blue-green, yellow stem with small granules, no ring. Grows under 5-needle pines. The slow blue bruising of pores and dry hairy cap are distinctive.
Preparation Notes
Peel cap before cooking. Good edible. Occasional mild GI reaction in some; moderate consumption recommended.
